This role contributes by helping managers & HR colleagues develop & train their people. There is a client base of approximately 1600 employees & the job holder will provide proactive & responsive support for corporate learning & development initiatives designed for participants across all functions.
The role will include planning & co-ordinating courses, & training evaluation. This is an important role within the central HR team. The job holder will report to the Learning & Development, Manager & will work closely with other members of the commercial & editorial HR teams. Key contacts include external & internal training & development suppliers; commercial department training contacts; line managers; course delegates; & accounts payable colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Design and Delivery
• Design and deliver soft skills training courses to the business as and when required.
• Advise the Business In liaison with HR colleagues (& local area training contacts), advise & assist line managers re: their training & development needs.
• Manage & communicate administrative processes (e.g. training & room booking).
• In liaison with HR colleagues, help line managers analyse their staff development needs (e.g whether a training course is the right course of action), & identify appropriate solutions.
• Work with line managers in identifying & commissioning the development of training initiatives.
• Act as the first point of contact for people seeking a mentor.
Training & Development Evaluation
• Assist in gathering & analysing training & development needs.
• Improve measurement of training effectiveness in order to facilitate more efficient & effective training.
• Align supplier & FT post-course evaluation forms.
• Introduce pre-course objective forms.
Collate & review course feedback
• Compare post-course feedback to pre-course objectives.
• Follow-up with delegates & line managers 3 months following courses, in order to evaluate the impact of training.
• Suggest improvements & implement them where appropriate.
• Write & circulate an evaluation report for mangers & HR Managers.
Administrative Operations for Corporate Training Activity
• Assist in Training Needs Analysis, & the collation of training needs
• Deliver against the training plan
• Book suppliers (agreeing dates, times, ensuring contracts &/or confidentiality agreements are signed, getting best value possible)
• Arrange venues, training rooms, support material, & catering.
• Co-ordinate corporate inductions (organising speakers, presentation materials, delegates, room bookings, & refreshments)
• Collate & communicate corporate blended training & development activities (e.g. via a course schedule on the intranet, newsletters, management emails, FTPeoplesite, coffee points, & face-to-face)
• Arrange “core programme” training activities (e.g. Appraisal Skills training).
• Advertise/market these courses, & take responsibility for proactively communicating with suppliers, delegates, line managers, & HR colleagues
• Respond to in-coming communications (e.g. to the Learning Mailbox)
• Maintain spreadsheet records of all L&D activities, room bookings, & registered L&D desires
• Report on training activity (topics, activity type, usage, effectiveness, cost, etc.)
• Keep colleagues up to date with accurate training related information
• Process invoices & cross-charge costs
• Research, develop, & maintain information on Learning & Development best practice & suppliers
• Source training solutions & suppliers to fill skills & knowledge gaps
• Negotiate ongoing training contracts & ensure optimum savings on one-off training requirements
• Collate & maintain a preferred suppliers list.
• Make recommendations for improving the efficiency & effectiveness of the L&D Co-ordinator role, in order to minimise administration & maximise the value added by central HR resource. Implement recommendations where possible.
• Assist in HR project work.
Annual Talent Review.
• Provide co-ordination support to the annual talent review
• Induction Co-ordinate & facilitate quarterly Corporate Inductions
• Advise managers on inductions, Masterclasses / Lunch n Learns
• Organise / Kick-off Mentoring Programme
• Manage the mentoring programme, recruit new mentors and keep track of mentoring relationships

• Excellent Word, PowerPoint & Excel skills. Familiarity with Lotus Notes would be of benefit.
