Global M&A news and intelligence provider Mergermarket is seeking an experienced financial journalist for its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
The successful candidate will be responsible for unearthing unpublished information on potential and ongoing deals, interviewing senior executives, and identifying potential M&A opportunities.
The Mergermarket Group is a division of The Financial Times Group. Headquartered in London, it has a global presence with regional head offices in New York and Hong Kong and other key offices in San Francisco, Mumbai, Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
Key Tasks
• Write news and industry stories for Mergermarket on a regular/ daily basis
• Identify M&A opportunities and unearth unpublished information on potential and ongoing deals
• Network across the M&A industry with advisors and industry executives, as well as other representative bodies
• Be willing to travel around the region regularly
• Share responsibility with team members for quality of coverage
• Generate ideas for new topics and coverage
• Hold leadership ambitions
Essential skills
• Native English speaker or equivalent
• Solid English writing skills
• Ability to understand complex financial issues
• Able to work under pressure
• Strong organisational and time management skills
Preferred skills Ability in more than one Asian language is a strong advantage for this position, as is a qualification in an economics-related discipline or some experience in finance and/or journalism. Editing skills would be a plus.
