Job Purpose
Money Management, the multi-award winning monthly B2B title, is recruiting a new supplements editor. This is a senior position within the magazine and would suit a journalist with experience of writing about personal finance who is looking for the next step up the career ladder. The supplements editor will be responsible for managing and editing the magazine’s monthly supplements, alongside writing news and product analysis for the main magazine.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Commissioning and editing articles from freelance and in-house journalists, industry contributors, and generic sponsor copy.
• Developing supplement topics, maintaining the supplement schedule and devising supplement synopses.
• Writing the main feature for each supplement, such as in-depth articles and surveys on anything from mortgages and investments to regulation, technology and pensions.
• Working with design to devise supplement covers.
• Sourcing and writing news and product reviews for the main magazine.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
• Relevant experience as a personal finance journalist.
• Qualified to NCTJ standard or equivalent.
• Ability to write technical and informed surveys and features on a variety of personal finance topics, such as life assurance, investment, pensions, taxation, mortgages etc;
• Close attention to detail;
• Good organisational and planning skills;
• Proven ability to source and write news;
• Good contact building skills;
• Strong feature commissioning and editing skills;
• Project and staff management abilities.
Desirable
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with QuarkXpress and InDesign.
