Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Working with business and development team to deliver business benefit on time and to budget
• Demonstrate excellent manual testing ability throughout the entire development process
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using TestNG to drive Selenium tests
• Show innovation in your approach to automated testing and the structure of the scripts
• Ensure that the testing aspect of projects are carried out in accordance with the organisation’s agreed standards, methods and procedures
• Working as part of an agile team or independently on own initiative dependent upon size of deliverables
• Working in a Test driven development environment

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Technical skills and experience:
• Demonstrable experience of working on multi platform web technologies
• Java coding ability for test automation
• SQL and experience of either Oracle or MySQL
• JUnit/TestNG/Selenium
• Ensure the scalability, maintainability and robustness of the automated test suite
• Create self contained scripts that manage their own test data by making use of DBUnit.
• To carry out exploratory testing based on product and business knowledge and document and track defects to closure.
• Attention to detail
• ISEB (or equivalent) accreditation
• An appreciation of accessibility and web standards
• A solid understanding, through actual experience, of all key aspects of testing in an Agile environment, from visual and functional testing, right through to more technical testing such as security and performance testing
• An understanding of a range of Software Development Lifecycles (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, RAD) and how test activities vary, dependent on the SDLC used

Interpersonal skills:
• Good communication skills due to the requirement to report progress to the rest of the Scrum team
• Sound judgement and planning skills are essential.
• A strong team player – must be able to forge strong and effective partnership with Managers of Projects, Development, Operations and Strategy/Architecture functions
• Excellent logical problem solving and analysis skills
• Good with detail but capable of seeing the big picture
• Excellent organisation/time management skills
• Excellent documentation writing ability
• Natural multi-tasking ability
• A flexible and pragmatic approach to testing, sufficiently adaptable to meet the changing needs of the business
