Job Purpose
This is a London based editorial position for FTChinese.com, the Chinese website of the Financial Times newspaper. Reporting directly to the Editor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the daily news operation of FTChinese.com. The job includes content planning/editing and column writing/coordination.
The Requirements
- Mandarin Chinese as first language, excellent news/comment writing skill is essential
- Very good command of English, especially reading and speaking is essential
- A good degree in economics, journalism, international relations, finance and management, or other relevant field is essential
- Experience in business reporting for an international news organisation or prominent Chinese-language media is essential
- Experience working with online news media would be an advantage
- Experience in international news or business news would be a plus
- Commitment to processional journalism, good understanding of FT’s editorial style and news operation
- Demonstrated good news sense and excellent editorial judgment about Chinese current affairs as well as business reporting
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a good team player
- Good IT skills including advanced MS Office and Lotus Notes
